“Carolyn Comitta would make an outstanding Mayor for West Chester. She has the experience and insights to be an effective leader and articulate spokes-person for the community. She knows how to bring people together to
work on advancing those issues that are critical to the quality of life for West Chester.
As someone who has devoted his legislative service to promoting smart growth strategies to preserve farmland and revitalize our older small town communities I am impressed with Carolyn Comitta’s depth of understanding and commitment to good land use policies and innovative revitalization strategies for our boroughs. She has the experience,knowledge, and ability to be a dynamic and extremely successful mayor for the borough of West Chester.”

“Reading the paper this morning I now have three reasons to try to help you:
You are a friend;
you are very qualified to serve as the next Mayor of West Chester;
and your opponent is not the kind of leader that we need for the future.
I knew nothing about him until I saw the paper and now everything I know about him is a negative. Our leaders have to work with all factions of the community so they all work together towards common goals. That is what I see that you will attempt to do- and he is quoted as not being in favor of that approach and he wants things to go the way that he sees as being
correct regardless of what others say and do.”

I am so excited that Carolyn has announced her candidacy for Mayor of West Chester. I can’t think of anyone I know who is as qualified to fulfill the responsibilities of mayor as is Carolyn. She is a lifelong resident of Chester County. She attended our schools, taught in our schools, raised her children here, works here and now governs here in her role as Borough Council Member. She understands West Chester. She gets that in order for this community to prosper we must bring everyone to the table and consider all points of view with the ultimate goal of making West Chester a better place to live and work for everyone. Carolyn’s actions show us that she gets this. It was she that brought us all together to discuss height regulations in West Chester. Carolyn led the effort to form the University Area Neighborhood Task Force to bring together neighbors, students and business owners to discuss issues and solve problems. And it was Carolyn who was instrumental in ending a year long battle between landlords and the borough by recommending and holding a public meeting. I am proud to call Carolyn my friend and neighbor and I would be proud to call her our Mayor!

As an environmentalist, my hope for the future of West Chester, where I lived during my teens, and still is my favorite of all towns, is that West Chester become a model “green town.” That means fostering more environmentally sound infrastructure like solar power, green roofs, lower electric consumption, more walking and biking opportunities, and hopefully getting SEPTA to reinstate rail service to Philadelphia.

For the last 20 years, Carolyn has been involved in the progressive World Information Transfer (WIT) which is in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and for the last 11 years serves as its North American Regional Director where she is deeply involved in environmental and economical issues.

I’ve known Carolyn since high school and can attest to the fact that she is a highly competent visionary with impeccable integrity. Carolyn has served on the West Chester Borough Council since 2006 and now should be Mayor. I urge you, please vote for Carolyn Comitta.

Carolyn Comitta is an unusual force combining INTEGRITY, fairness, intelligence, and focus with a pragmatic drive to make good things happen. As a Counsel Member she led a motivated, diverse group of business owners, residents, along with top Borough and University representatives to build a plan for closer, more efficient working together of town and gown. Three years later that plan has been an engine for positive change. As Borough residents, a number of us work currently in one of the outcroppings — an ongoing innovative program dealing with negative student behavior.

Carolyn Comitta brings high quality skills to the table. She also brings the ability and experience to apply them successfully to the most difficult tasks with tact, grace, and a generous heart.

The future of West Chester is very important to me. I lived in Chester County for 32 years recently moving to South Carolina. There has been a “good old boys” club for more years than I can count in West Chester. It is time for voters to think about the future not the past.
The Mayor of West Chester needs to be a very vital, viable, forward thinking person.
Carolyn Comitta is that person.
